Well what a fabulous day at the Flower Power Fair at Holme Pierrepont Hall in Nottingham yesterday. After a week of cloudy and rather chilly days we ventured off all wrapped up for a chilly day. This was our first outing taking Libby-Loo on a trailer. We took a slow and steady ride out to Nottingham and arrived in plenty of time. As soon as we were pitched up and the hatch was opened the Sun shone for the rest of the day. With over 450 visitors we were kept busy throughout the day.
On the menu – Vegetable soup and a roll, Coffee and Walnut cake, Luscious Lemon Cake, Victoria Sponge, Lemon and Raspberry sponge, Apple and cinnamon cake, Gluten Free Victoria Sponge, Brownies, Millionaires shortbread, Rocky Road, Sticky Chocolate Loaf, Raspberry and coconut slices and my favourite - Lemon Iced Gingerbread. We also had the obligatory Gingerbread Men, this little army come everywhere with us, bags of home-made fudge and pretty little Meringue Kisses.
We could never have anticipated how busy we were throughout the day, by 4 o’clock we had just 3 slices of cake left, however they were soon snapped up by a last minute customer whose children were desperate for cake. We’d had lots of compliments throughout the day and there is no better feeling than seeing customers at the hatch for the third time in the day, asking for a box of cakes to take home too!!
Tired and weary we loaded Libby-Loo back onto the trailer and the Boys and I headed home, the only disappointment that we had no leftovers to devour on the way.
